Firestone RubberGard EcoWhite EPDM Membrane

LAS VEGAS — February 21, 2008 Firestone Building Products Company, LLC, headquartered in Indianapolis, Ind., recently introduced RubberGard EcoWhite EPDM membrane to its expanding green product line.  Firestone announced the new product during the International Roofing Expo, February 21-23.

RubberGard EcoWhite EPDM membrane provides a timely solution for challenges of the 21st century by enhancing energy savings with its outstanding reflectivity.  RubberGard EcoWhite membrane is easy to install and offers savings from reduced labor and material during application, making it the ideal choice for any project where fully adhered membrane systems are specified.

“In commercial construction, reliability and design versatility are more important than ever, and Firestone is committed to offering new alternatives in answer to traditional roofing needs,” said Jim Jannasch, EPDM product manager for Firestone Building Products.  “Firestone RubberGard EcoWhite membrane keeps rooftops cooler, while maintaining the high standards contractors and building owners have come to expect from Firestone and its diverse line of EPDM products.”

With a unique construction of 30-mils of white over 30-mils of black, RubberGard EcoWhite membrane is an exceptional alternative to thermoplastic membranes.  With more flexibility than thermoplastic membranes allowing for year-round application, RubberGard EcoWhite membrane is available in a 60-mil overall thickness and can be used in conjunction with the EcoWhite line of accessories.  RubberGard EcoWhite membrane is available for UL- and FM-rated systems, exceeds ASTM D-4637 standards, and is eligible for a 15-year Firestone Red Shield Warranty.

RubberGard EcoWhite membrane’s manufactured reflectivity is consistent with Energy Star® and Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC) programs.  The membrane can also help achieve points in the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system, a voluntary national standard established by the U.S. Green Building Council.
