Curved Panels for Firestone UC-3 and UC-7 Metal Systems
November 4, 2008
Firestone Building Products has developed an informational template for construction of convex (outward) curved UC-3 mechanically seamed and UC-7 batten seam roofing panels.
The template indicates the information needed to produce a quality product to fit the job conditions.
All substrate conditions outlined in Firestone’s Metal Design and Application Guides must also be met for
proper installation. The specific information (field verified) required for fabrication is:
- Product choice of either: UC-3 (1-1/2” (38.1mm)) or UC-7 (1” (25.4 mm)).
- Product panel: material, finish/color, thickness, face width in inches. All measurements are to be inches.
- Chord length from eave to eave. Place value in DIM 1. Maximum length of 576” (48’) (14.630 m).
- Chord height from center of DIM 1 to the top center of the arch. Maximum is 96” (8’) (2.438 m). Place value in DIM 2.
- Arc length, eave to eave following the curvature over the top. Place value in DIM 3. Maximum is 619” (51’7”) (15.723 m). Numbers 3, 4 and 5 are based on the size of a standard flat bed trailer.
NOTE: The above procedures in 3, 4, & 5 for measuring the curve can be made on a small area of the roof curve, such as the top third as long as the principles are followed and curve is constant. - Radius of the outermost surface of the actual construction assembly if known. Place value in DIM
- Extra material desired at either end, typically enough for trimming, hemming, or over-lapping panels. Place values in DIM 4 & DIM 5. Note: TOTAL arc length should equal DIM’s 3+4+5=6.
- Forward this COMPLETED, SIGNED AND DATED information along with your order to your appropriate Firestone Building Products contact for the job. For multiple configurations, please indicate a job roof reference point for each condition.
- For conditions, configurations or items not covered in the above information, please contact Firestone Roof Solutions at 800.428.4511.
Note: Curved panels are produced at the following locations: UC-3 in Anoka, MN, and Miramar, FL, and UC- in Anoka, MN, Miramar, FL, Reno, NV and Warren, MI. You will find this information posted on our website under Bulletins, and in the Detail Drawings.
