As the complexity of the Metal Roofing Industry continues to expand, it is imperative when specific code or wind uplift requirements are specified, that the right assembly is chosen. It is just as important to have the most options and information available to ensure the roofing assembly meets the wide variety of specifications seen today.
Firestone is pleased to announce an updated Metal Code Approval Guide, which includes the most up-to-date information regarding Firestone Una-Clad Metal Roofing Systems. Located on the redesigned Firestone Technical Database, at www.firestonebpco.com, the new Metal Roof System Code Approval Guide incorporates the following new approvals:
* Four (4) Improved UL-580 Class 90 deck constructions: - UC-3 Roofing Assemblies over Wood and Steel Decks
Benefit: Clip spacing widths increased to 24” on center, reducing the amount of clips
and fasteners by 50% to achieve UL-580 Class 90
o UL Construction numbers 656 and 658 - UC-4 Roofing Assembly over Wood Deck
Benefit: First approval utilizing .032” Aluminum panels
o UL Construction number 657 - UC-6 Roofing Assembly over Wood Deck
Benefit: First approval utilizing the UC-6 roofing system over a wood deck.
o UL Construction number 655
* Additional ASTM E 1592 structural performance tests utilizing the 18” wide, .032” Aluminum UC-14 panel.
