Maple Hall
Golden, Colorado
When the Colorado School of Mines needed to increase their capacity for freshmen housing, college officials decided to establish a new residential village at the south end of campus. Ascetically, the architect was directed to provide an evolution of existing materials in use on campus: stone, brick and metal panels.
H&L Architecture, who designed the project, also had the goal of obtaining LEED Silver certification for Maple Hall, for a residence hall with an exterior gross area of 97,655 square feet.
The installing contractor, Tecta America Colorado, LLC, installed Series 1200 metal wall panels in bright silver metallic, UC-501 wall panels in RHEINZINK pre-weathered blue gray, and covered the roof with Firestone UltraPly 60mil tan TPO and UC-3 roofing panels in RHEINZINK gray. An AnchorGard SP Edge System topped off the project, while a Red Shield Warranty will protect the roof for the next 20 years.
Firestone UC-501 panels were also used on the neighboring Brown Hall. Both Maple and Brown Halls were ready for students to occupy for the Fall 2011 semester.
